HOW to submit WORK

You can submit pieces by emailing a scan or photo to writingonmachines@gmail.com. Please hand-write submissions in a dark pen on paper. Unlined paper is preferable (by no means necessary), and you can put a sheet with dark lines behind an unlined sheet to use as a guide to keep you level. As we've said elsewhere, please don't stress about the elegance of your handwriting, but do try and make it legible. If you aren't a native or confident English speaker, please don't worry about grammatical or spelling errors, and feel free to write in a language you're more comfortable with if you'd prefer. Texts can be as long or as short as you'd like. If you're looking for a suggested length, try one or two sides of A4 paper. Indicate in the body of the email if you'd like the piece to be published with your name or anonymously.

We'll do the rest, and try and get your text up here as soon as possible.

Prompts

A new prompt will be published on the 1st of each month. Submissions will be accepted and published for the duration of that month, but if you want to respond to a historic prompt please feel welcome to. Please indicate in the subject line if you're responding to the prompt or if it's a general submission.

They are designed to put the possibilities around Artificial Intelligence in relation to you as an individual, and to give you a head start on issues that may become more relevant in the future. More importantly, they're there to get you writing something.

OPEN call

We'll accept pieces on anything related to artificial intelligence. If there's something that's been bugging you, or something that's been pleasing you in the public discourse around AI, hand-write it down and we'll get it up. We want to know what you think about this stuff, and we want to share it. This will be the case for the duration of the project.
